LPGA "Class A" Teaching Professional

LPGA “Class A” Golf Professional, Michelle Melia brings over 20 years of teaching and coaching experience. In 2008, Michelle was named the Ladies Professional Golf Association “National Golf Coach of the Year” for her efforts as Head Golf Coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

In 2008, Michelle’s Fairleigh Dickinson University Women’s Golf Program won Eight Division I Intercollegiate Tournaments and the Northeast Conference Championship to earn a berth to the NCAA Golf Women’s Regional Golf Championship. The FDU Knights were also successful in the classroom earning the Highest GPA of all sports at FDU, as well as the Northeast Conference.  During Michelle’s tenure at Fairleigh Dickinson University, she mentored three golfers who were named “Northeast Conference Rookie of The Year” and two golfers who earned “Northeast Conference Player of Year” honors.  Michelle was also named the 2008 Northeast Conference Coach of the Year.

During her professional coaching career, Michelle has also been a Division I golf coach at Rutgers University and Monmouth University. She is the LPGA Teaching Professional for the First Tee of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, LPGA Girls Golf Club site director, and serves as committee member for numerous local New Jersey Golf Organizations. She has been featured on Fox Sports News as a leading instructor for Stroke Survivors and is the lead instructor for the ARC of Monmouth providing golf instruction for athletes preparing for Special Olympic Golf.

Not a stranger to competitive golf in her own right, Michelle began her competitive golf career at age 11 and went on to win five New Jersey Women’s Public Golf Links Championships, as well as represent New Jersey at the PGA National Junior Championship at PGA National Golf Club in Florida and the World Optimist Championship at Torey Pines Golf Club in San Diego, California. Michelle played college golf at Rutgers University and was a three time Most Valuable Player and 1993 ALL-ECAC Selection. In 2001, she was a member of the Futures Tour. 

Michelle currently lives in Bradley Beach,  New Jersey.
